Why SkipEdit

Not another AI avatar tool.

Avatar generators replace you with a synthetic presenter. SkipEdit polishes the real you — because your students signed up for your teaching.

Sync

AI-synced slides

The AI reads your transcript and your slides, then places each slide change at the exact moment you start talking about it. Nudge any timing you disagree with.

Zero editing

Upload, then walk away

Transcribing, syncing, composing, rendering — the whole edit happens in the cloud while you do literally anything else. Come back to a finished video.

Branding

Styled by your own deck

The video chrome — colors, frames, labels — is sampled from your slide deck's palette, so every video matches your course branding without design work.

How it works

Two files in. One finished video out.

STEP 01

Pick two files

Your talking-head recording (any webcam or phone video) and your slide deck as a PDF — export straight from PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides.

STEP 02

SkipEdit builds the edit

It transcribes your speech word-by-word, renders your slides, matches each one to the moment you discuss it, and composes the full video: title card, presenter opener, side-by-side teaching section, outro.

STEP 03

Review, render, publish

Check the proposed slide timings, nudge any that feel off, and hit render. Download the MP4 for your LMS, YouTube, or MOOC platform. Re-renders are free — tweak until it's right.

The old way vs. SkipEdit

A week of editing, or a coffee break.

Editing it yourself

  • Learn a video editor with a timeline, tracks, and keyframes
  • Scrub the recording to find every slide-change moment by ear
  • Cut, align, and re-align picture-in-picture layouts by hand
  • Render for hours on your own laptop — then spot one mistake
  • Repeat for all 30 lectures of the semester

FAQ

Questions lecturers actually ask.

What is SkipEdit?
SkipEdit is an AI lecture video studio. You upload a talking-head recording and your slide deck as a PDF, and SkipEdit transcribes your speech, places each slide at the moment you talk about it, and renders a finished presenter-plus-slides video — with no video editing or timeline.
Is SkipEdit an AI avatar tool? Does it change my voice or face?
No. SkipEdit never generates a synthetic presenter. The video is your real recording — your face, your voice, your delivery — composed with your slides into a clean presenter-plus-slides layout. AI is only used to find the right slide-change moments from your speech.
What files do I need to make a lecture video?
Two files: a talking-head video in any common format (phone recordings included) and your slide deck exported as a PDF. PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides all export to PDF in one click.
How long does SkipEdit take to make a video?
Analysis (transcription plus AI slide sync) and rendering each take minutes on cloud GPUs, not the hours a laptop render takes. A typical 15-minute lecture goes from upload to a downloadable MP4 within a coffee break.
What if a slide lands at the wrong moment?
Before rendering, SkipEdit shows a review step with the proposed time each slide appears. You can nudge any timing and then render. If you spot something afterward, adjust and re-render — re-renders never cost a credit.
How much does SkipEdit cost, and do credits expire?
One credit produces one finished video and re-renders are free. New accounts get 1 free credit. The Starter pack is 5 credits for $49 and the Pro pack is 20 credits for $149. Credits never expire and there is no subscription.
Does SkipEdit add captions and subtitles to lecture videos?
Yes, automatically. Every finished video comes with downloadable SRT and VTT subtitle files (what Canvas, Moodle, and other LMS platforms accept for accessibility), plus an optional toggle to burn captions onto the video itself. Burned captions are sized like broadcast subtitles and positioned so they never cover the presenter.
Can AI choose the video style and layout automatically?
Yes. During analysis, SkipEdit's AI reads every slide and the full transcript, then recommends the best-matching visual theme and screen layout for that lecture — and prefills the on-screen text (course code, presenter name, institution) from the title slide. Its picks are tagged in the review screen, and anything you choose yourself always wins.
